Karl E. Werner, past Bangor teacher
Karl E. Werner, 81, formerly of Franklin, North Carolina, and Miami, Florida, died Tuesday, July 20, and the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown, Pa, where he resided for a year and ½.
He was last employed as an accountant for the Eastern Airlines. He worked for the company in Miami for 23 years before retiring in 1979. Earlier he worked in the office as a salesman for the Slate Belt Buick Co. in Bangor and for a year was a teacher of business education at Bangor High school.
During World War II he was employed by Bethlehem Steel Company doing computer payroll work.
Born August 3, 1917, in Bangor, he was a son of the late Thomas Odenwelder and Stella Snyder Werner.
He was a graduate of Shippensburg College with a degree in business education.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 311, F and AM in Portland. His hobby was cutting and setting precious and semi precious gemstones, and he was a member and treasure of the Gem and Mineral Society in Franklin.
He and his wife, the former Helen Abrams, observe their 52nd wedding anniversary last December.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by nieces and nephews.
The body will be cremated. There’ll be no Cali hours. No services are scheduled at this time.
