Vernon G. LaBarre, 61, of R. D. 1 Treeline Drive in Pen Argyl, Pa., died F riday in St. Luke?s Hospital.
He was employed as the Association National Director of Personnel for t he Northeast Region of the Boy Scouts of America in New Brunswick, N.J., r etiring in Feb. of 1986.
Born Aug. 14, 1928, in Richmond, Pa., he was a son of the late Orville a nd Arla Hummer LaBarre.
He was a graduate of Bangor High School in Bangor, pa., and Dickinson Coll ege in Carlisle, Pa.
He was a member of the Ackermanville United Methodist Church in Ackermanvi lle, Pa., where he served as a former financial chairman of the church f or seven years. He was an assistant Sunday School Superintendent of the ch urch, the health and welfare representative and chairperson for the E.K. E isenhart Scholarship Fund of the church. He also served as a fund raisi ng volunteer for the boy Scouts of America. He was a 32nd degree memb er of the F&AM, of the Coudersport, Pa., consistory.
He was the husband of Lorraine Johnson Heller and the late Lois Seibert w ho died in 1984.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Allan of Atlanta, Ga ., and Jeffrey, of Bethlehem; one daughter, Sandra at home; one stepdaught er, Janice Roberts of Ackermanville; one brother, Sherman of Portland, Pa .; one granddaughter and one step grandson. A son Lt. Stephen LaBarre, di ed in 1978.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Ackermanville unit ed Methodist Church in Ackermanville. Interment will be in the Reformed Ce metery in Stone Church, Pa. Arrangements are by the James B. Gaffney Funer al Home in Bangor, Pa. |
