Donald R. Young, 89 Managed Employment Bureau In Easton

Donald R. Young, 89, formerly of Wilson and Forks Township, died Wednesda y, August 4, in PersonaCare at Eastwood, Wilson. He was the husband of t he late Esther (Bennett) Young.

He was a manager of the Easton Bureau of Employment Security for 30 year s, retiring in 1970, and was also the manager of the Stroudsburg office fr om 1943-46.

Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Raymond C. Young and Emily (Marti n) Young Waltman.

He was a member and former council member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Churc h, Wilson.

He was the first Manpower Director of Lehigh and Northampton Counties in 1 971; executive director of the Northampton County Industrial Development A uthority and Commission 1974-85; vice president of Easton Area Industri al Development 1974-82; director of the first Late-Start Program at Northa mpton Community College 1972-73, and a life member and former direct or of the American Red Cross, Easton Chapter.

He was a member of the Easton Masonic Lodge 152.

He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Easton and the Boy Scou ts of America Advisory Council, a former United Way State Employee chairma n, a former member of the Vocational Technical School advisory committe e, a former member of the Forks Township Emergency Squad, the Northampt on County Historical Society and the Northampton County Area Agency on Agi ng Advisory Council.

Survivors: Sons, Robert R. of Allentown and Raymond B. of Houston, Texa s; daughters, Jane L. Bibleheimer of Lancaster, Sandra E. Weiss of Strouds burg, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton stree ts, Easton. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.
