Sara Jean Sally Ford Lippard, 79, died Monday, December 19, 2005, in at We stminster Canterbury, Lynchburg, Va. Sally was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylv ania, on December 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Leslie Samuel and Eth el (Hager) Ford. She was educated in the public schools of Bethlehem, whe re she graduated from Liberty High School in 1943. She received her R.N. f rom the University of Pennsylvania in 1946. Her family and friends were h er greatest pleasure in life, and she joyfully translated her nursing care er into a lifetime of caring for others. Among her many contributions to h er community, she was a Girl Scouts troop leader and a volunteer nur se in the public schools that her children attended. She served several te rms on the board of the Friends of the Lynchburg Public Library, for whi ch she inspired and gifted its logo, the Lamp of Knowledge. She serv ed as president and lifelong member of the Lynchburg Academy of Medicine A lliance, from whom she received an honorary membership for her exception al service and her contribution to the creation of the Academys logo, Hyge ia, daughter of the God of Healing and Patron God of Physicians. A dedicat ed member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, she served several terms on t he church council, taught youth Sunday school and sang in the church choi r. She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking and nature. Her greatest talent w as her innate ability to nurture and inspire others.

Survivors: Children, Leslie Ford Lippard, Ann Lippard Drescher, Margaret K imball Lippard, Robert Carroll Lippard; grandchildren, Margaret Ann (Megan ), Molly Kate and Matthew Toby Brown, Cullen Ann, John Brent and Christoph er Corbin Drescher, Brittany Gray and Robert Jackson Lippard; daughter-in- law, Suzan Lloyd Lippard; son-in-law, John Brent Drescher; niece, Jane Fo rd Fava; nephew, Craig Charles Ford. She was predeceased by her loving hus band, Dr. Carroll (Cullie) Hoyt Lippard, brothers, Charles Samuel Ford a nd Richard Hager Ford, and a granddaughter, Leslie Shannon Brown.

Services: A candlelight visitation will be held in Holy Trinity Lutheran C hurch today, December 21, 2005, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service w ill be conducted in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 2 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. by Rev. Dennis S. Roberts, assisted by Bishop Jam es F. Mauney of Roanoke, Va. An interment service will follow in Spring Hi ll Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Sallys home, 119 Linden Av e., from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday following the services. Arrangements, Tha rp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. 434-237-9424.
