John A. Sandt, Former Official in Forks, Dies
Retired Farmer, 76, Was President of School Board.
John a. Sandt, 76, a former president of the Forks Township School Boar d, died at 1:30 p.m, yesterday in Easton Hospital. He was admitted to t he hospital Monday afternoon. He resided on Frost Hollow Road, East on R. D. 1.

Mr. Sandt was a farmer in Forks Township until is retirement in 1946, Sin ce that time he had wored at intervals for the State Department of highwa ys and the Forks Township road department. He was last employed at the For ks Township Volunteer fire Co. club.

Mr. Sandt served on the school board for 12 years until about 10 years ag o. He had also been vice president, secretary and treasurer of the boa rd at various times.

A lifelong resident of Forks Township, he was a son of the late Jose ph L. and Mary C. Kutz Sandt. His first wife, the former Annie Kelly, di ed in 1923.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran church, Forks Township.

Surviving are his widow, the former Ruth E. Ryerson; five sons, Albert J ., Leslie E., and Kenneth C., all of Easton r. d. 1; Francis C., Easton, a nd Robert J., at home; four daughters, Mrs. Walter Paff, Palmer Townshi p; Mrs. Harold Miler, Easton, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hones and Mrs. Ruth Ehri e, both of Easton R. d. 1; a brother, Charles f., Avona Heights; a siste r, Mrs. Jennie Nause, Bethlehem; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joseph Dulick, Phill ipsburg; two stepsons, James A. and Charles H. Cope, both of Easton; 16 gr andchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the F. W .Schmidt Mortuary, N azareth.

The funeral of John A. Sandt, 76, Frost Hollow Road, Easton R. D. 1, was h eld yesterday afternoon at the F. W. Schmidt Mortuary, Nazareth. Mr. Sand t, a former president of the Forks Township School board, died Wednesd ay in Easton Hospital.

The Rev. Clarence D. Roth, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Forks Townshi p, officiated. Interment was in Forks Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbear ers were J. Douglas Fackenthal, Clarence Newman, Clifford Rice, Marshall W alters, Karl Miller, and Paul Remaly.

Active pallbearers were Howard Gehringer, Edwin Force, Clinton and David P aul, John Saylor, and Raymond Davis.
