Alvin E. Kahler, 87, Retired Easton Tailor
Alvin E. Kahler, 87, a retired merchant tailor, died unexpectedly last nig ht about 11:20 o'clock at his home, 525 West Nesquehoning street.

Mr. Kahler, a lifelong resident of Easton, had been in the tailoring busin ess in the city for many years. He retired about seven years ago.

He was born on March 2, 1863, a son of the late George Henry Kahler and He nrietta Kutz Kahler. His wife, Mary Caroline Thomas Kalher died on Nov. 20 .

Mr. Kahler had been active in Masonic affairs in Easton for many years

He was a member of Easton Lodge 152, F. and A. M.; High dePayens, Commande ry 10, Knight Templar and the Easton Royal Arch Masons.

On Dec. 9, when Easton Lodge observed its 133 anniversary at a banqu et in Hotel Easton, Mr. Kahler received a cane in honor of being the olde st living member of the lodge. The cane previously was held by the late Wi lliam O. Hay.

Mr. Kahler also was a member of Lehicton Lodge 244 I.O.O.F of Easton, a nd the Second Methodist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Miss Edith Kahler, assistant registrar of La fayette College, who resides at home, and a sister, Mrs. Robert E. Bus s, of Nazareth. Two nephews are Stewart Kahler of Dover N.J. and Ellswor th Buss, of Bangor.

Rites for Mr. Kahler
Funeral services for Alvin E. Kahler, 87, who died Tuesday night at his ho me, 525 West Nesquehoning Street, were held this afternoon at the residenc e.

The rev. W. Frank Carpenter, pastor of Second Methodist Church officiate d. Easton Lodge 152, F. and A. M. of which Mr. Kahler was a member, held r ites last night at the home.

Interment was in Hay's cemetery, Pallbearers were James Sexton, John Warne r, Kenneth Fay and Walter Shaw, all of Second Methodist church, and Sydn ey Browne, Willis K. Searfass, Henry P. Unks and Robert J. Keiber, all mem bers of Easton Lodge, 132.
