Representatives of Three Generations in One Family Are Killed When Ti re of Auto Blows Out
Driver of Car is Deputy Register of Wills Mark D. Frankenfield, of Butzto wn ? Wife, Daughter and grandson are Victims when Machine Hits Abutment.

A mother, daughter and grandson were killed and two others injured in an a utomobile accident yesterday morning at 11 o?clock when their automobile h it a bridge abutment on Route 22 near Strausstown, Berks County.

Mrs. Huldah Frankenfield, 59, of Butztown, wife of Mark D. Frankenfield, d eputy register of wills in Northampton county and Leonard Young, her grand son, were killed.

Mrs. Pearl Young, 39, mother of Leonard, died in the Reading hospital.

Katherine Young, 10, daughter of Mrs. Young and Mr. Frankenfield were al so injured and are in the Reading hospital.

The car in which the five were riding was operated, police said, by Franke nfield and was heading west on the pike. Route 22, to Harrisburg whe re he was to conduct official business for the office of the register of w ills, when the accident happened about 20 miles from Reading.

Mrs. Frankenfield was killed instantly, Walter G. Fly, of 505 Second Avenu e, Bethlehem, a salesman for the L. G. Balfour company, assisted removi ng the injured to the Reading hospital after they received first aid treat ment in Strausstown from Dr. Herbein.

Frankenfield remained at the scene of the accident till the ambulance arri ved. He suffered probable internal injuries a badly lacerated thigh a nd a deep gash in the head. His condition is serious.

Katherine Young received cuts of the face and probable concussion of the b rain.

Kenneth F. Kressler, Norman A. Piel and Alexander R. Miller, of Easton, a nd Alderman E. D. Warg of Bethlehem, happened along after the crash. Frank enfield told them that he was proceeding at a fair rate of speed when t he left front tire blew out.

He lost control of the machine which left the highway and crashed into a c oncrete abutment wrecking the car completely.

The Bethlehem office of the Morning Call was notified soon after the accid ent and turn informed Walter Weber, a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Frankenfi eld, an employee of the McClintic-Marshall company, who left at once for t he scene.

Register of Willis Steinmetz at Easton announced that Frankenfield w as on his way to Harrisburg to deliver $15,000 to the State Departme nt of Revenue representing part of the register of wills? office receip ts for May. He was traveling in his own automobile.

Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Young were the Frankenfields? only surviving childre n. The Webers have on daughter.

Frankenfield has been a veteran employee of the county, having served f or many years in the office of register of wills as deputy. He is acti ve in the affairs of the community where he resides, serving as a justi ce of the Peace and interesting himself in the affairs of the county assoc iation of these officers. He is also a member of the Northampton County Hi storical Society.

Mrs. Frankenfield was a daughter of Lewis and Malinda Werkheiser Clause a nd was born in Wagnersville. She was actively identified with the Luther an wing of St. John?s Church, Farmersville and also served in the numb er of Organizations in the community of Butztown.

She was married about 37 years ago to Mr. Frankenfield and from this uni on there were three children, Mrs. Pearl Young, of Butztown, and Mrs. Walt er Weber, of Hellertown, and a son, Leonard, who preceded his mother in de ath in 1921, the victim of an automobile accident.

She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Lewis Clause a nd Ulysses Clause, of Wagnersville , Easton R 3; Vansalen Clause, Freemans burg; Adam Clause, Farmersville; Mrs. John Jaxheimer, Mrs. Stuart Marsh, M rs. Russell Kemmerer and Mrs. Walter Strouse, all of Bethlehem and Mrs. Jo hn Peifer, of Easton.

Mrs. Young is survived by one sister, Mrs. Walter Weber, of Hellertown a nd one daughter, Catherine beside her father, Mark Frankenfield.

Mrs. Young has been making her home with her parents in Butztown. Her husb and, Elmer Young, preceded her in death. A brother also preceded her in d eath.
