Jacob B. Bartholomew
Jacob B. Bartholomew died Saturday of apoplexy in Northampton Heights. Bo rn in Haycock, Bucks county, February 11, 1837, a son of the late John a nd Veronica Bartholomew, he was 78 years of old. He was united in marria ge January 2, 1868, to Carrie H. Stiney, Illinois. The deceased leaves h is widow, one daughter, Mrs. George Hiegley, Northampton Heights; one so n, Albert, Sterling, Ill.; one brother, Franklin, Quakertown and two siste rs, Sarah, Applebachsville, and Mrs. Frank Allen, Hellertown, and one gran dchild. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served three yea rs as a private and later was made a captain. He was twice wounded. Amo ng the battles in which he took part were; Bull Run, Fredericksburg and An tietam. He received an honorable discharge June 13, 1864, at Philadelphi a. Funeral on Wednesday. |
