Merritt E. Ahlum, 73, of Sellersville, was pronounced dead Wednesday at So ldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, Tioga County, after bei ng stricken on a hunting trip.

Ahlum was the husband of Rosa Marie (Peckiconis) Ahlum. They were marri ed 47 years in May.

He was a heavy equipment operator for James D. Morrissey and Co., Philadel phia, retiring in 1981. He also worked for Union Local 542 Operating Engin eers, King of Prussia.

Born in Haycock Township, he was a son of the late Edgar B. and Ada (Landi s) Ahlum.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors: Wife; son, James M., and a daughter, Joan M. Moyer, both of Per kasie; brother Daniel of Quakertown and five grandchildren.

Mass: 10 a.m. Monday in the church. Call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Moyer-Kantner Fu neral Home, 623 W. Market St., Perkasie, and 9-10 a.m. Monday in church.
