Death of Aged Hanover Farmer
Jacob Fenstermacher, a well known farmer residing on the public road leadi ng from Bethelhem to Catasauqua, died on Thursday last, after a long illne ss with gangrene, superinduced by pleurisy, aged 71 years. He was bo rn at Lehightohn, but came to Northampton county when a boy of nine year s. He lived on the farm on which he died for forty-five years continuousl y. He is survived by his widow and five children -- Mrs. Maria Hensh aw of Whitehall Station, Mrs. Diana S. Riegel, onf Mineral City, Va., Mi ss Violetta Fenstermacher, of Hanover and Jeremiah and Geo. W. Fentermache r, milkmen having routes in the Bethlehems.

Jacob Fenstermacher, one of the best known residents of Hanover Townshi p, Lehigh county, died at his farm, on the Catasauqua road, last week, aft er protracted illness of gangrene, superinduced by pleurisy, age 71 years.

Jacob Fenstermacher, a former resident of Hanover township, was born Apr il 17, 1822, and died June 8, 1893. He was the only son of his father, who se name we have been unable to ascertain, although we know that he marri ed a Miss Hackman. The father dying when Jacob was only nine years of ag e, the latter came to Northampton county, where he was employed by a Bethl ehem township farmer. He later acquired an 18-acre tract of land in Hanov er township between Bethlehem and Catasauqua, which is now owned by his so n, George Fenstermacher. He was confirmed in the Hecktown Reformed chur ch when 16 years of age. His remains were the first to be interred in t he new cemetery at Schoenersville.. In politics he was a Republican. On No v. 8, 1846, he married Lydia Unangst, a daughter of George and Elizabeth ( Able) Unangst, b. May 1, 1821, and d. April 29, 1897, aged 76 years, le ss two days.

Jacob and Lydia Fenstermacher had the following children: Jeremiah, Georg e, Maria, m. Jacob Henshue; Viola, unmarried; and Diana, m. John R. Riegel .

Jeremiah Fenstermacher, b. May 25, 1852, has a 42-acre farm in Hanover tow nship, Northampton county. Prior to 1908 he lived in Hanover township, Leh igh county. Politically he is a Republican, and at one time was tax collec tor in the latter township. He is a Reformed member of the Schoenersvil le Church. Jeremiah Fenstermacher married Senia Catharine Ritter, daught er of Daniel Ritter, and they have two children: Harvey D., and Weston J ., the latter still at home.

Harvey D. Fenstermacher is a farmer in Hanover township, Lehigh county, a nd was born at Schoenersville, July 2, 1876. He was reared as a farmer, a nd from the time he was eight years old until he was nineteen, worked f or his grandfather Fenstermacher. He hauled milk for three years for his u ncle, George W. Fenstermacher, and, in 1899 he began farming for himself n ear Schoenersville. In 1902 he purchased his present tract of 55 acr es of excellent farm land, formerly the John Lerch homestead. He is a memb er of Christ Reformed church, Schoenersville, and in politics he is a Repu blican.

On Jan. 25, 1896, he was married to Amanda E. Hoch, daughter of Willi am H. and Sarah (Fisher) Hoch, and they have the following children. Geor ge H., Jennie M., Cora J., Robert P., and Franklin H.
