H. W. Haupt Dies At 80 in Florida
Howard W. Haupt, retired president of teh Klages Coal & Ic Co. died at St. Petersburg, Fla., today.

He had been in ill helath seince his retirment in 1947 and had been in the St. Peterburg hospital for a month with a heart condition. He would have been 81 years of age June 27. Mrs. Haupt died last year.

Mr. Haupt lived at 263 Greenwood Avenue, and had been spending the winters in Flroida since his retirement. He leaves a brother, Clint, of Akron. with him when he died were M.r and Mrs. Tom Boak, Akron Friends.

Funeral arrangements are being made at Billow's chapel.

Mr. Haupt contrubed much to the hsitory of Akron's busines and industrial growth. He was with the Klages company 57 years and rose from office boy to presidentl.

Born in Loyal Oak, he worked on teh farm as a boy and then attended a normal school in Wadsworth and buiness college in Cleveland. He joined the Klages company in May 1890.

He was assistant bookkeeper and bookkkeeper, and superintendent of personnel and palnts, and in 1918 he was named president of teh company. when he rettired, Louis Klages was chosen president.

Mr. Haupt was devoted to his work with his ldoge affilatation while in good health. These inlcuded Masconic bodies, Elks, Odd Fellows and Knight sof Pythias.

he also was active in Chamber of Commerce, the City and Exchange Clubs and the old Silver Lake Country Club.
