Hugh Frankenfield Killer
Mangled by a Pushing Engine on the Central Road, He did not See it Coming
Hugh Frankenfield, a resident of Fayette Street, met with a fatal accide nt shortly after 3 o?clock this Wednesday morning. He was employed as a b rakeman on the freight train on the Central Road and had just completed h is round trip as he stepped from the caboose of his train in the yard at t his place. He was warned by his fellow railroaders to look out for a pushi ng engine which was coming down the track. He stepped out of the way of t he engine and after it had passed, attempted to cross the track when he w as stuck by pushing engine, No. 84, Robert Nixson engineer, which was al so backing down the track. Frankenfield did not see it coming, owni ng to the steam from the engine which had just passed him. The engineer d id not know that he had run over the man until a few moments later, when h is body was found by the crew of the train he was employed on. The body w as terribly mangled.

The deceased leaves a wife and seven children, eight brothers and six sist ers. He was 44 years of age and was a member of the Brotherhood of Trainm en, Pen Castle, No. 44, Knights of Golden Eagle, and of St. John?s Luther an Church of Easton.
