Councilman Firth Ward
Owen Frankenfield, the Republican nominee for councilman inthe Fifth ward, came to Kansas City, Kansas, in 1883, and engagedin the sand business, where Central avenue crosses the Kansas River, and where he is still located. He was born in Bucks County, pennsylvania, in 1855. he was engaged in teh sand bueinss in the city of Philadlephia for nine years before coming to his city. He delivered sand from Bordentown, New Jersey, by boat, and he furshied sand for some of the most important jobs in that city. During the summer season he runs twenty-five wagons daily delivering sand. His sand he pumps from the Kansas river, but he give indications of having sufficent for his own huse. He does an extensive buiness also in coal and building material.

This is his first venture in public affairs. He has never before had anything to do with politics except to vote. He owns hisown home at 932 Northrup avenue. All his interests are here. He is a prosperous man, industrious and energenitc, and should confide the management of public affairs.
