Centre Valley Loses Veteran Merchant
Frank Mullen Dies of Complications Day After 78th Anniversary.
Frank Mullen, a merchant at Centre Valley for the past forty-three year s, died of complications at his home there at 4 o?clock on Friday morni ng after having lived to observed his seventy-eighth birthday anniversa ry the day before. He had been in ill health for several weeks. Death w as due to a complication of ailments.

Mr. Mullen had a picturesque career and was known to many people througho ut the entire county. He was born in Centre Valley and prior to enteri ng the general merchandise business was station agent at that place on t he North Penn railroad, which was since taken over by the Philadelphia & R eading Co.

He was also a postmaster at Centre Valley during the second administrati on of President Grover Cleveland. He organized the Centre Valley Union Ch apel Association, and served as the treasurer for a number of years. For m any years he was a member of the Upper Saucon Township, board of school di rectors. A prominent Democrat, he attended all but possibly two county me etings of that political organization since he became of age.

There survived to mourn his loss, two sons, and two daughters; Claude of C entre Valley, Frank of New York, Mrs. Elwood Loux, of Centre Valley and Li llian at home. Two step-brothers and three sisters also survive.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday with services at the late home at 1: 30 p.m. Burial will be made in the Friedensville church cemetery. Rev. Ste ve Hughes and Rev. J. G. Dubbs of Bethlehem will officiate.
