Joseph B. Gillespie, 86, of 110 South Market Street, died this moring at 8:50 in Shamokin Hospital, where he was a patient since last Friday.
Mr. Gillespie was born June 10, 1868, in Point Township, a son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Burd) Gillespie. He was employed as a yard conducter by the Reading Railroad Company for 22 years before retirinig in 1932.
Mr. Gillespie was married to the former Miss Harriet Williams, Shamokin, who died in 1926. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviviors include on sister, Miss Florence Gillespie, at home; a brother, George Gillespie, Norwood, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Thrusday afternoon at 3:00 in Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Churst Streets, Rev. H.P. Beam, pastor of Lincoln Street, methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Shamokin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednwsday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services. |
