Christian was baptized at Dryland Union Church. The sponsors were his
grandparents, Christian Roth and his wife, Catharine.
Christian's marriage to Catharine Hartzel by Rev. Mr. Pomp was announc ed in the
"Easton Centinel" and in the "Northampton Correspondent" on Friday, 30 Oct ober
1829. Their marriage also appears in the records of First Reformed Chur ch at
Easton.
After his first wife, Catharine, died in 1839, Christian fathered two so ns by
Mary Boyer in 1849 but they never married. Mary already had a son, Reub en Boyer,
born around 1831 by her previous husband, who died sometime before 1849. M ary
died around December of 1861. On 12 December 1861 George Beck filed a peti tion
in Northampton County orphans court for guardians for sons Jeremiah and Jo siah
George, "illegitimate minor children of Mary Boyer late of Lower Nazare th Twp.,
deceased". The court appointed William G. Beck as their guardian. (Orphans

Sometime around 1849 Christian married Maria Hartzel, a sister of his firs t
wife, Catharine Hartzel.
In 1850 Christian, age 47 a carpenter, was living in Lower Nazareth Twp.,
Northampton County, PA with his second wife, Maria (Hartzel) age 53.
Christian had real estate valued at $1,500. Also living in his household
was Phineas F. Rishel age 17. (1850 census Northampton Co., PA, Lower Naza reth
Twp., pg. 227, house #159)
Also living in Lower Nazareth Twp. were Mary Boyer with sons; Reuben Boy er age
19, Jeremiah F. George age 1 and Josiah H. George age 1. (1850 census
Northampton Co., PA, Lower Nazareth Twp., p. 224, house #108)
Christian left a will, written 17 October 1848 and proven 24 December 185 1, in
which he left his entire estate to his wife, Mary, and appointed her the
executor.

Christian is probably buried in the old graveyard adjacent to Dryland Chur ch
with no marker on his grave.
