Oscar O. Eisenhard, Candy Maker, Dies
Succumbs to Nerve Paralysis After Suffering for Three and a Half Years.

Oscar O. Eisenhard, who had been a candy manufacturer in this city for ma ny years and who was prominent in Masonic circles, died at the age of 67 y ears at 9 a.m. yesterday at hi s home, 1110 Allen Street, of paralys is of the nerves, after being ill for three and half years.

Mr. Eisenhard was born in the upper part of Lehigh county, a son of Lew is and Mary Eisenhard. After getting his education in the public schools n ear his home, he came to Allentown at the age of 19 and started in the con fectionery business with Henry Rose. He later was employed by M. E. Brob st and Company, after which he spent two years in Philadelphia, finishi ng the work of learning his trade.

Upon returing to Allentown, he entered the employ of John Landis and lat er worked for Bortz and Frankenfield. Mr. Eisengard then entered busine ss for himself and conducted stores at Seventh and Linden streets and at T enth and Hamilton street. He had been in business for himself for a peri od of about 35 years, both as a manufacturer of and a dealer in cand y. He remained active in the business until the illness which caused his d eath.

Mr. Eisenhard was active in Masonic circles, being a member of Greenleaf L odge No. 561, F. and Am. M. ; Allen Chapter No. 203, Royal Arch Masons; Al len Commandery No. 30, Knights Templar, Allen Forrest No. 41, Tall Ceda rs of Lebanon, and Lehigh Consistory.

He was a member of St. Michael?s Lutheran Church and had served that congr egation as a deacon for a number of years.

Mr. Eisenhard was married forty-fve years ago to Carrie E. Heimbach. Mr. a nd Mrs. Eisenhard observed their wedding anniversary on April 5.

Besides his widow, Mr. Eisenhard is survived by the following brothers a nd sisters; Mrs. Sassaman Schmoyer, Mrs. Paulina Gangewere, Mrs. Tevilla W enner, Mrs. Calvin Haas, and Albert Eisenhard, all of this city; Mrs. Char les Braach, Atlantic City, and Mrs. Harry Lilly, of Bethlehem.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at this late home wi th further services at 2 p.m. in St. Michael?s Lutheran Church, Ninth a nd Turner Streets. Rev. Conrad Wilker will officiate. Interment wi ll be in Greenwood Cemetery.
