J. H. Conners, 89, Ex-Locomotive Engineer on LVRR
John Henry Conners, 89, formerly of 218 E. Pierce St., Easton, died yester day afternoon in the Eastwood Convalescent Home, Wilson, where he was a gu est for the last year. He had been ill two years.

Mr. Conners was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad for the 52 years. R etiring on his 70th birthday anniversary in December 1944. AT the ti me of his retirement he was the second-oldest locomotive engineer in leng th of service on the Lehigh Valley. Before becoming an engineer in 193 8, he worked as an engine crew caller, fireman, assistant superintende nt of fuel and assistant road foreman of engines.

He was born Dec. 9, 1874, in Lehigh County, a son of the late John and Aga tha Amey Conners.

He was a life member of Pennsylvania Railroad Young Men?s Christian Associ ation of Greater New York.

Surviving are a daughter, Agatha, wife of Carl R. Wolbach, and a son, Rog er J. Conners, both of Wilson; three grandchildren and two great-grandchil dren. His wife the former Lillie Kuttner, died in March 1963.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the Bender Funeral Hom e, Easton.

The funeral of John Henry Conners, who died Wednesday at the Eastwood Conv alescent Home, Wilson, was held this afternoon at the Bender Funeral Hom e. Mr. Conners formerly lived at 218 E. Pierce St. and was a 50-year memb er of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Rev. Glenn G. Naubauer of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiated. Inter ment was in Easton Cemetery. The pallbearers were Richard J. Conners, Rog er J. Conners II, Carl W. Wohlbach, henry J. Schultz, William N. Walter a nd Harry Bachman.
