William H. Schug Dies
Prominent Grocer Succumbs to Brief Attack of Pneumonia
After an illness of less than a week, William H. Schug, one of Easton's be st known grocers, died at 9 o'clock this morning at his residence, at 7 23 Washington Street, of Pneumonia, aged 55 years. Mr. Schug became confi ned to his bed only on Friday evening, and was at the store at Fourth a nd pine Streets the same afternoon.

Deceased was a native of Easton and a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schug de ceased. For Twenty-eight years he was employed by the late Daniel W. Conkl in, whose grocery store was located at Northampton Street and Centre Squar e. Nine years ago Mr. Schug engaged in business for himself and conduced o ne of the most successful grocery stores in the city.

While a resident of the Fourth ward he represented that district in the co mmon council for a number of years, and subsequently was the representati ve of the Sixth ward in select council. He was one of the first membe rs of the Jacksonian Democratic Association. He was also a member of St ar Council, No. 155, Royal Arcanum; Grant conclave, No. 122, Improved Ord er of Heptasopha and Trinity Episcopal Church. He was graduated from the E aston High School in 1878, he was vice president of the Northampton Coun ty Building and Loan Association.

There survive his wife, three children \endash Harold W. Schug and Mrs. Donald Y eomans of Easton and Mrs. John Hammer of Bethlehem; a brother, Jere. F. Sc hug of Reading, and three sisters, misses Emma and Laura Schug and Mrs. Le wis Sandt of Easton. The funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Though he had b een indisposed for several days, Mr. Schug did not take to his bed until F riday evening. He was at his store at Fourth and Pine streets on Friday af ternoon.

Mr. Schug was a native of Easton and a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schu g, deceased. For twenty-eight years he was employed by the late Dani el W. Conklin, whose grocery store was located at Northampton street and C entre Square. Nine years ago. Mr. Schug engaged in business for himself a nd conducted one of this city's largest groceries.

Mr. Schug served as a member of Common Council from the Fourth ward from A pril 1, 1890 to april 1, 1892, and also served in Common Council from t he same ward from April 1, 1893 to April 1, 1898, He was a member ofrSele ct Council from the Sixth ward from April1, 1906, to Nov. 1, 1907, wh en he resigned and was succeeded by Jacob H. Mutchler.

Mr. Schug was vice president of the Northampton Count y Building & Loan As sociation.
