Mrs. Elizabeth Phifer, 89, of 44 S. 13th St., Allentown, died yesterd ay in Allentown hospital.

Mrs. Phifer was the widow of James S. Phifer, former superintendent of t he Allentown Works of the American Steel & Wire Co. for 37 years. He di ed in 1937.

Mrs. Phifer was born in Williams Township, a daughter of the late Thomas a nd Lenora Moser Clause. She resided in Allentown since 1895.

Surviving are two sons, a daughter, a brother, 11 grandchildren and 15 gre at-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Burkholder Funeral Hom e, Allentown.

Elizabeth Phifer, Steel Executive?s Widow, 89, Dies
Mrs. Elizabeth Phifer, wife of the late James S. Phifer, died yesterd ay in Allentown Hospital. She was 89.

Mrs. Phifer resided at 44 S. 13th St., Allentown. Her husband was superint endent of the Allentown Works of the American Steel and Wire Co. for 37 ye ars. He died in 1937.

Born in Williams Township, Northampton County, Mrs. Phifer was a daught er of the late Thomas and Lenora Moser Clause. She resided in Allentown s ince 1895.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown. She was a former c haplain of the Anne Penn Allen, Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two sons, Jacob J. of Birmingham, Ala., and H. Kenneth of Al lentown; a daughter Martha A.., wife of Olyn Grieves of Baltimore; a broth er, Floyd W. Clause of Allentown; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchil dren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the J. S. Burkholder funeral Hom e, 1601 Hamilton St., Allentown. Viewing will be 7-8:30 tomorrow.
