Was Retried LVRR Conductor
Alvin E. Clause, 84, of 352 Philadelphia Rd., a retired railroad conducto r, died at 9:40 p.m. yesterday at his home. He had been ill for some time .
Mr. Clause was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad for 55 years. He re tired in 1942. From 1943 to 1947, he was a bartender at Ott's Grill, Sou th Side.
Mr. Clause was born Jan 23, 1873, in Wagnersville, Northampton County, a s on of the late Thomas and Lenora Moser Clause. His wife the former Bert ha Horn, died in August 1950.
He attended Second Methodist Church. He was a charter and life memb er of the McKinley Club, Easton, and a member of the Order of Railroad Con ductors: Camp 429, POS of A: Easton Lodge No. 45, Loyal Order of Moose, a nd the Liberty Hose Fire Co.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin H., Easton, and Alvin W., Bethlehem; three d aughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Tigar and Mrs. Helen Betts, both of Easton, and M rs. Mary Pursell, Phillipsburg; one sister, Mrs. James Phifer, Allentow n; a brother, Floyd W. also of Allentown; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-gr andchildren. A son, William H., a former Easton School director and ci ty councilman, died in 1943. Another son, Robert, well-know Easton Athlet e, died May 6, 1957.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m Tuesday from the Shillinger Funeral Hom e, Easton. |
