P. S. Uhler Dies; Ex-Superintendent of Building Firm
Easton Man, 66, Served Bechtel And Sons For 45 Years.

Preston Samuel Uhler, 66, retired superintendent of Otto A. Bechtel and So ns, Easton building contractors, died today about 8 a.m. in Easton Hospita l. He was admitted on Tuesday.

Mr. Uhler, who had been in failing health for the last seven months, liv ed with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Stanley Mattes, of 417 West Madison Stree t, since returning from Miami, Fla., on July 8.

He and his wife moved to Miami last February with the intention of maki ng their permanent home there. When Mr. Uhler's condition became worse la st week they returned to Easton.

Before going to Florida, the Uhlers lived for 33 years at 1506 Ferry Stree t.

Mr. Uhler had been employed by the Bechtel contracting firm and its predec essors for 45 years, retiring last January. He became superintende nt at 25 years ago. Before that he was a foreman.

He had been active in Masonic affairs in Easton for many years prior to h is illness. Until last January he had served as a member of the Wilson Boa rd of Health for a number of years.

Born in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Richard and Louise Steime tz Uhler, He resided in Easton Area nearly all his life.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Masonic affairs, he was a mem ber of Easton Lodge 152, F..and AM, Hugh de payens Commandery 19,Knights T emplar; Easton Chapter, 173; RAM, Pomp Council 20, R and SM, and Easton Fo rrest 39, Tall Cedars of Lebanon all of Easton. He also was a member of Le hicton Lodge 214, Odd Fellows, of Easton.

Surviving are his wife the former Anna M. Seiler; a son Dr. Ellsworth Uhle r, a physician residing in Upper Black Eddy, and two sisters, Mrs. Lesl ie Montague, of Easton, and Mrs. Charles Happel, of Nazareth.
