Charles R. Rabenold, Street Commissioner at Catasauqua, Dies
Charles R Rabenold, 56, Catasauqua Street Commissioner for the last seven years, died Wednesday in Sacred Heart Hospital where he had been a patient since December 14. He suffered a stroke last June and were only part time since then.
Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of Mrs. Sarah and the late Harvey Rabenold. He has been known for many as “Nick”.
Former silk worker
In his early years he was employed as a loom fixer by the Wahnetah Silk Mill. In 1937 he entered the employ of the Catasauqua street Department and seven years ago he made street commissioner.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Woodman of the World, Southwark Hose Company, Phoenix Fire Company, all of Catasauqua, and the Loyal Order of Moose, Allentown.
Survivors
He is survived besides his mother, his wife, Mrs. Margaret (Rabenold), 621 limestone street, Catasauqua: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothea R. Edmonds, at home and Margaret, wife of Rufus Went, Catasauqua; three brothers, Edward, Fullerton and George and Harvey, Catasauqua; five sisters, Mrs. Ralph Evans, Fullerton: Mrs. Quintus Haydt and Mrs. George Herman, Catasauqua; and Mrs. Lester Harmon and Mrs. John Spaihts, Danielsville, and three grandchildren. |
