EARL RADER, 89; HAD MARKET FOR 40 YEARS IN ALLENTOWN

Morning Call, The (Allentown, PA) - Tuesday, October 3, 1989

Earl F. Rader, 89, of 1901 Linden St., Allentown, died Monday in Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. He was the husband of Edna A. (Reitz) Rader. They observed their 61st wedding anniversary in March.

Rader was owner of the former Rader's Market, 129 S. 17th St., Allentown, for 40 years before retiring in 1965.

Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Harry F. and Emma (Savitz) Rader.

He was a member, former councilman and elder emeritus of Emmaunuel United Church of Christ Church, Allentown.

He was a past president of the former Lehigh Wholesale Grocers Association and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Allentown, for 15 years.

Survivors: Wife; sons, the Revs. William H. of Boalsburg, Centre County, and Glenn J. of Lancaster, and Arlo J. of Harrisburg and Dr. Mark V. of Allentown; daughter, Linda M., wife of the Rev. H. Elwyn Slocum of Danville, Montour County; brothers, Jacob of Bethlehem and Paul of Allentown; sisters, Mrs. Bertha Sell of Allentown, and Ruth, wife of Clayton Shimer of Elverson, Chester County, and 13 grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Call 9:30-11 a.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements, Stephens Funeral Home, Allentown.
