Ellen A. Merkel
Ellen A. Merkel, an aged and esteemed resident of Slatington, died there at her home, the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Deiley, on Monday morning of a complication of ailments. She was in her 77?sup?th?/sup? year.
She was born in Allen Township, Northampton County, a daughter of John and Sarah Heckman Merkel, and had made her home in Slatington for a number of years. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Klotz, Walnutport, Route 2; a son, James M. Deily, Slatington, together with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and two brothers, William Merkel, Walnutport Route 1, and George Merkel, Walnutport, Route 2.
Funeral services will be held at her late home, 116 Chestnut Street, Slatington, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Rev. Floyd E. Shupp, of Cherryville, officiating. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery, Slatington.
