Sudden Death of Rev. J. H. Zartman a Blow to Many, Residents of Waterloo were shocked Monday evening to learn of the sudden death of Rev. J. II. Zartman, a native of Seneca county. lie had just been transferred transferred by the Central New York conference conference of the M. E. Church from Odessa, in Schuyler county, to Union Springs, in Cayuga county. He preached his first sermon sermon there on Sunday and was returning to Odessa, preparatory to moving to his new charge. He was on the Lehigh Valley train when he suddenly died. Deceased was the eldest son of the late George II. and Lydia M. Zartman, and was born in Fayette, Seneca county, about fifty-eight fifty-eight fifty-eight years ago. His early education was obtained in the Waterloo high school and he then took a three years' course in Syracuse University, following it with a course in the Drew Theological Seminary, preparatory to entering the Methodist Episcopal ministry. He had served charges at JamesvQle, McGrawviUe, Truxton, Lodi and Odessa, and was a man of many friends and of great ability. He was a strong temperance advocate and a frequent and most convincing speaker on that subject. Deceased is survived by his wife and three children; two brothers, Charles E. and George K. Zartman, both of Waterloo, Waterloo, and one sister, Mrs. John It. Yost, of Pomona, California, His remains arrived in Waterloo last evening.
