Alvin Messenger (misp)
Word has been received of the accidental drowning of Alvin V. Messinge r, of Detroit, Mich., former Topekan and employee of the Santa Fe here, Su nday morning in Lake Erie. He was spending the weekend near Kingsville, wi th his wife and several friends and drowned before help reached him. Mr. M essinger was born January 23, 1895, in Fremont, Ohio, and before leaving T opeka, was employed in the freight auditor's office of the Santa Fe. At t he time of his death he was assistant general auditor of the Detroit, Tole do & Ironton Railroad Co., with headquarters in Detroit. He is surviv ed by his widow; three children, Jack, Evelyne, and William Messinger; h is parents, Mr. Mrs. A. Messinger, Easton PA; three brothers, in Easton; a nd a sister in Oklahoma.
Mrs. Messinger, before her marriage, was Miss Katherine Neiswinter, of Top eka. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the Wall-Diffend erfer mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. |
