Merritt Kreider, Ex-businessman
Merritt S. Kreidler, 78, retired Bethlehem businessman and civic leader, d ied Monday in his home at 1744 Easton Ave., Bethlehem. He was the husba nd of Mary K. (Landis) Kreidler.

Northampton County Coroner Joseph Reichel attributed death to natural caus es.

Kreidler owned and operated the Kreidler Shoe Store at 314 S. new St., Bet hlehem, retiring 18 years ago.

A Bethlehem Housing authority commissioner from May 1941 until august 194 9, he served as manager at the Parkridge Home from 1949 to 1960.

From November 1939 to January 1969, he was a director and also held sever al posts on the board of the Bethlehem Building and Loan Co., now Great er Bethlehem Savings & Loan Co.

He was on the board of directors of First National Bank, Bethlehem, now fi rst Valley Bank from 1959 until he retired in 1971.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Milton E. and Emma (Clause) Kr eidler.

He served with the Army during World War I.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bethlehem.

Surviving besides his widow are two daughters, Mrs. John Mengel of Bethleh em and Mrs. Carl Mayes of Pottstown, and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wesley United Methodist c hurch, Bethlehem. Calling hours will be 7-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Snyder- Hinkle Funeral Home, 27 Center St., Bethlehem.
