Man Fatally Burned When Torch Explodes
Walter F. Frankenfield Was Repairing an Incubator at the time
Walter E. Frankenfield, aged 40 years, 10 months 13 days, a prominent resi dent of Cementon, was so terribly burned on Saturday morning by an explodi ng gasoline torch, that he passed away a few hours later in Haff?s priva te hospital. At the time of the accident, Mr. Frankenfield was engag ed in repairing an incubator, in the yard of h8is home. The exploding tor ch saturated the victim?s clothes with the burning oil, and practically ev ery stitch was burned off the body. Member of the family and nearby neigh bors went to his aid and administered first aid treatment until the arriv al of a physician. The later rushed the victim to the hospital, where desp ite all medical aid, death ensued by 3:30 o?clock Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was born in Broadheadsville, Monroe County, and was the s on of Eugene A. and the late Amelia C. Frankenfield (nee Blocker). For t he past fifteen years he had been employed at the atlas Cement Co ., as an engineer. Besides the widow, Barbara (Nee Brantmeyer), and the fa ther, there survive two children, Robert and Richard, both at home, and th ree sisters and two brothers, Charles, George and Mrs. John H. Hoffma n, of Cementon, and Mrs. Charles C. Ehret an Miss Annie Frankenfield, of t his city.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o?clock from h is late home. Burial will be made in Egypt. The remains are in the char ge of Undertaker Miller, Northampton. |
