Ex-Principal In Bethlehem, Bucks Dies
Ira M. Frankenfield, 85, of Richlandtown Pike, Passer, Coopersbu rg R. 1, a former principal, died Tuesday in his home.
He began teaching in 1905 in the Springfield Township Elementary Schoo l. He became a high school teacher in 1909 and supervising principal in 1 912.
He later started teaching at Bethlehem?s Calypso Elementary School in 19 19 and was later principal of Calypso, Fairview and Higbee schools. He ret ired in 1952.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Born in Passer, he was a son of the late Henry B. and Emma L. (Meyers) Fra nkenfield.
He was a member of Trinity (Springfield) Lutheran Church, Pleasant Vall ey and an honorary life elder.
Surviving are six brothers, Warren, at home; Daniel of Coopersburg R. 1; P aul of Hellertown; Henry of Audubon, N.J; Willis of Quakertown, and Walt er of Bartlesville, Okla., and four sisters, Mrs. Florence M. Fels of Alle ntown; Della, at home; Mrs. Alice M. Schwartz of Easton, and Mrs. Ma ry M. Green of west Chester, Chester County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Willard L. Gruver Funeral Home, M ain and Oxford Streets, Coopersburg. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Thrusd ay. |
