Clyde S. Frankenfield, educator, administrator
Clyde S. Frankenfield, 89, of 520 Howertown Road, Catasauqua, an educat or and administrator in Catasauqua and Northampton schools for more th an 50 years, died Friday in Sacred Heart Hospital.

Frankenfield was principal of Northampton High School 1915-1922 and superi ntendent of the Northampton School District from 1922 until resigning in 1 930 to become supervising principal of the Catasauqua Union School Distric t, a post he held until retiring in 1958.

After attending Kutztown State Normal School and graduating from Muhlenbe rg College, Frankenfield received a master?s degree from Columbia Universi ty New York City.

He began his teaching career in a one-room school near Coopersburg and tau ght in Bucks County schools before going to Catasauqua.

He was chairman of the Catasauqua Union School Authority at the time of h is death, and was a past worshipful Master of the Chapman Lodge F&AM of No rthampton.

Active in community affairs he worked with the Catasauqua Library board a nd was one of the first presidents of the Northampton Rotary Club and a fo rmer president of the Catasauqua Rotary club.

In 1964 the Catasauqua Exchange Club honored Frankenfield with the Gold en Deeds Awarede.

Born in Passer, Bucks County, he was a son of the late William and Mary (H amil) Frankenfield.

He was an elder and former Sunday School superintendent for many yea rs of the Catasauqua Presbyterian Church.

A veteran of World War I, he served with the Army Medical Corps.

He was the husband of the Marie B. (Faulkner) Frankenfield.
