Solder From Passer Fell on Battle Field
"Died of Wounds sustained in action" was the sad new received yesterday by the mother of Austin W. Frankenfield, of Passer.

Frankenfield was 28 years of age and previous to being drafted in April, he was an employee of the firm of Koch Bros., this city. He left th is city with the draftees on Aril 278 and left on June 11 for France, bei ng attached to Company K., 145th Regiment.

His mother is Mary J. Frankenfield, of Passer and he is also survived by b orthers and sisters, His death according to the telegram occurred on Octob er 8.

Soldier Who Succumbed to Wounds in France to be Memorialized
Memorial services will be held next Sunday morning at ten o'clock for Aus tin W. Frankenfield in Springfield Church, near Pleasant Valley. Servic es will be conducted by Rev. O.H. Melchor, pastor of the Lutheran congreg ation, of which the deceased was a member. Private Frankenfield was the s on of Mrs. Mary J. Frankenfield, of passer, the father, William B., havi ng died a few years ago.

April 27 marks the anniversary of his departure for Camp Lee, Va. Early in June was placed in Co. K. 145th Infantry of the 37 Division, and sai led for overseas June 15, 1918. His company was held in quarantine at Bre st for a period of two months and was moved to the front early in Septembe r. His company went "over the top: on the night of September 156, in the g reat Argonne drive and was finally relieved Oct. 1. From information rece ived Private Frankenfield was wounded Sept 29, and finally reached evacuat ion Hospital. No. 7, Oct 1, here he died Oct 8, 1918. He was buried O ct 9, with military honors in the cemetery adjoin the hospital in Souill y, France.

He was born Oct 29, 1892, He was a graduate of Springfield Township High School and had been in employ of Koch Brothers clothiers in Allentown, sin ce his graduation nine years ago.

Relatives and friends and fellow soldiers are respectfully invited to attend the services.

The body of Private Austin W. Frankenfield, who died in France from wounds received in action in the World War, arrived in New York on Friday, July 15, and was shipped to Coopersburg. Private Frankenfield was draft ed in April, 1918, and left for Camp Lee on April 27, 1918, and sailed f or France on June 12. He was a member of Company K, 145th Infantry. T he company upon arrival at Brest was held in quarantine for some time owi ng to a case of spinal meningitis in the company. He went into action t he last week of September, 1918, in the Argonne drive, and was wound ed on September 29. He was admitted to Hospital No. 7, October 1, just ou tside of Souilly, France, with severe gunshot sounds in his left side, fr om which he died at 5 p.m. on October 8, 1918, and was interred in Grave N o. 124, in the cemetery at Souilly, October 9. He was aged 26 years at t he time of his death. He was the son of Mrs. Mary J. Frankenfield, Cooper sburg, Route 1 (near Passer). Prior to his leaving for camp, he had be en employed for almost nine years in the Koch Brothers' clothing store, Al lentown, and was serving at the head of the trimming department. He w as a member of Saucon Lodge, No. 469, F. and A.M., Coopersburg, and a memb er of the Knights of Friendship. In addition to his mother, he is surviv ed by a brother Clyde, of New York, and two sisters, Carrie H., at home, a nd Mrs. Eva M. Trumboker, of Emaus.
