Charles R. Hartz, 63, of 332 E. Goepp St., Bethlehem, died Monday in St. L uke's Hospital. He was the husband of Marilyn (Knecht) Hartz. They observ ed their 39th wedding anniversary last May.

Hartz was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 32 years before retiri ng in 1983 as a time study observer in the industrial engineering departme nt.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late William and Helen (Franken field) Hartz.

He was a member of College Hill Moravian Church, Bethlehem.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific.

Survivors: Wife; son Robert of Bethlehem; daughters, Barbara, wife of Thom as Altemose of Stroudsburg, and Kathy, wife of George Kovalchick of Bethle hem; brother Richard of Bethlehem Township; sisters, Mrs. Loretta Browni ng of Allentown and Mrs. Doris Hettlinger of Phoenix, Ariz., and five gran dchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethle hem. Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
