John J. Seip Dies Suddenly
Stricken With Fatal Attack of Acute Indigestion at His Home on Saturday
John J. Seip, a former secretary of the Easton School District and Depu ty County Commissioners Clerk, died suddenly on Saturday evening last at h is home, 1018 Butler Street, of acute indigestion. He had been about as u sual during the day and evening and was about to retire for the night wh en he was stricken. Lately Mr. Seip had been employed as a bookkeeper in t he office of the William Wharton, Jr., Company.

Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Seip and was born at Sei psville, Palmer Township, 63 years ago. He was educated in the public sch ools of the township and later entered Trach's Academy, this city.

For some years after he left Trach's he was employed as a clerk by the bri dge department of the Lehigh Valley railroad, the under supervision of t he late William Pascoe. He then became proprietor of the hotel at Seipsvil le, which he conducted for six years. Some time later he became manag er of the Hotel Stirling, this city.

From the time he moved to Easton, Mr. Seip took an active interest in publ ic affairs and was elected t represent the Seventh ward in the School Boar d. He was chosen secretary of the Board and while serving in that capaci ty he put the office on a sound, systematic business basis. The same care ful attention to business characterized his terms as Deputy Commissioner s' Clerk.

Mr. Seip was active in the affairs of the Democratic party in Northampt on county and served as secretary of the County Committee for a numb er of years.

He was married to miss Anna Heller, who with one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Mose r; one brother, Peter H. Seip, of Wilson township; two sisters, Mrs. Pet er Hess, of Bethlehem, and Mrs. O. F. Bowers, of Easton; two half-sister s, Mrs. Joseph Keller, of Wilson Township, and Mrs. Charles Heinzelma n, of Easton, and one step-sister, Mrs. Eugene Krumnacher, of Easton, surv ives him. He was a faithful member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and to ok a great interest in the Bible class of that church.
