Thomas J. Gruver, 90, of Fellowship Manor, Whitehall Township, died Wednesday in the manor. He was the husband of the late Carrie S. (Hunsberger) Gruver.

He was a loom repairman at various silk mills in the Lehigh Valley for 53 years, last employed by the former Juanita Silk Mill, Catasauqua. He retired in 1966.

Born in Rittersville, he was a son of the late Charles H.P. and Ellen E. (Krasley) Gruver.

He was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.

He played string instruments with the former Eddie Weirbach Orchestra in the 1920s and '30s.

Survivors: Son, Charles T. of Surprise, Ariz.; daughter, Betty J., wife of Robert Bohrer of Old Zionsville; sisters, Hattie I. Brunner of Allentown and Catherine M. Szmodis of Hellertown; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Monday, Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown. No calling hours. Arrangements, Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown.
