A nationally recognized church statistician, Rev. Ira F. Frankenfield, D.D ., of Tower City, brother of Mahlon L. Frankenfield, Allentown High scho ol teacher whose retirement was announced yesterday, died Tuesday at War ne hospital, Pottsville. The local teacher, who was honored at a testimon ial dinner Tuesday, is now in Tower City. Rev. Frankenfield was born at P erkasie, a son of the late Mahlon D. and Catherine, nee Fulmer, Frankenfie ld. A graduate of Franklin and Marshall college, he was awarded an honora ry degree of Doctor of Divinity at Muhlenberg commencement exercises in Fe bruary, 1944. he was pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Tower City, a nd St. Peter's Lutheran at Rhinerton since 1905, when he began his ministr y. For 23 years, he was statistical secretary of the Lutheran Ministeri um of Pennsylvania, and since 1933, he was president of the American Luthe ran Statistical Assn. Dr. Frankenfield was widely known throughout Easte rn Pennsylvania as a result of his long work as a church statisticia n. in December, 1940, he was elected to a one-year term as president of t he Monarch Club of Bethlehem. Surviving are his wife, Anna, nee Morgan, f ormerly of Slatington; a daughter, Ruth, wife of Clyde Stutzman, at hom e; two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Laura Sterner and Margaret Frankenf ield, both of Perkasie; Mahlon L., of Allentown, and Asa of Philadelphi a. Funeral services will be held Friday 2 p.m. in St. Paul's church, Tow er City, and burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery there.

Dr. Ira Frankenfield, 70, tower City Pastor, Dies
Dr. Ira Frakenfield, 70,pastor of St. Paul's Luthera church for almo st 40 years, died Tuesday inteh Pottsville Hospital.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Franenfield; a daughter, Mrs. Cly de E.Stutzman, at home; two brothers, Mahlon of allentown, and Asa of Phil adelphia, and a sister, mrs. margaret Sterner, of Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held in St. Paul's Lutehran church tomrorow after noon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Tower City Cemetery. Friends may call at the home this evneing from 7 to 9 o'clock.
