Miss Daisy Shannon, 86, Retired Teacher
Miss Daisy V. Shannon, 86, of 201 N. Schanck Ave., Pen Argyl, a retired teacher, died yesterday in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.
Miss Shannon taught in the Pen Argyl area for 50 years, retiring in 1949. She attended Millersville Normal School, transferring later to East Stroudsburg Normal School where she was graduated in1897. She also received a degree from Muhlenberg College.
Born in Delabole, Pen Argyl, R.D1, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Mary Jane Frey Shannon.
She was a former member of the Pen Argyl Woman’s Club, Shatunka Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Pen Argyl, and the old Franklin Ladies Independent Order of Reindeer. She was a member of Pen Argyl Methodist Church.
Survivors include four nephews and five nieces.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pullis Funeral Home, Pen Argyl. |
