Mrs. Isabella Hess
Isabella, widow of Col. Edward T. Hess, a Civil War Veteran, died Friday e vening at the residence, No. 50 Durham street, Hellertown aged 92 year s, 1 month and 4 days. She was Hellertown?s oldest resident and was bo rn in Lower Saucon, April 25, 832, a daughter of the late John and Elizabe th Boehm Diehl. She was a direct descendant of the Rev. John Philip Boeh m, the first Reformed minister in the United States. She was a life-long m ember of the Christ Reformed Church, of Hellertown. He husband preceded h er to the grave 28 years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss six children; E dward, Jr., of Leithsville, Mrs. Bella Schwartz, at home, Mrs. Frank Appe l, Mrs. Laura Kemmerer, of Bethlehem, Mrs. Amanda Richard, of Hellertow n; Mrs. Harry T. Hoffert, of Hellertown; also twenty six grandchildren, fo rty great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The funer al will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. with private services at the hous e. Public services will be held in Christ Union Church at 2:15 p.m. Buri al will be made in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
