Mrs. Reichard Is Called by Death
Mother of Muhlenberg Professor Was Former resident of Hellertown.
Mrs. Amanda S. Reichard, widow of Wilson Reichard, passed away on Sunday m orning at 3:30 o?clock at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Pr of. and Mrs. Harry Hess Richard, 2139 Allen Street, aged eighty years.
She had made her home with her son, who is the professor of German at Muhl enberg college, for the past ten years, and prior to that she resid ed in at the old homestead in Hellertown.
Death was due to a complication of diseases and followed a year?s illnes s. She was a direct lineal descendant of the late Rev. John Philip Boeh m, the first Reformed minister in Pennsylvania.
Born in Hanover township, August 2, 1853, she was a daughter of the late C olonel Edward and Isabella Diehl Hess.
Besides the son, Prof. Reichard, there survive to mourn her passing four s isters, Mrs. Frank Appel, Bethlehem R. D; Mrs. Laura Kemmerer, of Bethlehe m; Mrs. Belle Schwartz and Mrs. Harry J. Hoffert of Hellertown, on brothe r, Edward E. Hess, of Leithsville and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at two o?clock from her fo rmer home, 328 Northampton Street, Hellertown. Services will be held in C hrist Union church at 2:15 o?clock and interment will be made in the Helle rtown Union cemetery. |
