Mrs. A. F. Apple
Mrs. Matilda Eliza Apple, wife of Franklin Apple, Bethlehem R. 4, near t he old Limekiln school house, passed away yesterday morning at 7:30 o?clo ck following a long illness, aged 75 years, 6 months and 27 days.
Death was due to a heart attack. Well known throughout the Lehigh Valle y, Mrs. Apple was born in Springtown, Bucks County, and was a daught er of the late Colonel Edward H. Hess and Isabella Diehl Hess.
She was actively identified with Christ Evangelical and Reformed Chruch, H ellertown, and was alo a member of the Missionary society. On Octob er 15 she had observed the 50th anniversary of her marriage to A. Frankl in Apple.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edwin E. Bishort, of Philadelphi a, and Mrs. Homer Lerch, of Hellertown; four sons, Artis Apple, of Philad elphia., and Clyde, Miles and Norman all of Bethlehem; three sisters, m rs Laura Kemmerer, of Bethlehem;, and Mrs. Gertrude Hoffert and Mrs. Bel le Schwartz, both of Hellertown; one brother, Edward T. Hess, of Leithsvil le Three daughters, Mrs. Steward Fulmer, Mrs. Howard Eckert and Isabell a, infant daughter, preceded her in death. Twenty-two grandchildren and t wo great-grandchildren also survive. |
