Lester C. Pet Mengel, 86, of Palmer Township, passed away Tuesday, Octob er 28, 2008, in Easton Hospital, Wilson. Born on January 12, 1922, in For ks Township, he was the son of the late William F. and Annie May (Babp) Me ngel. Both of his wives, the former Helen Owens and Cora McFall, died earl ier. Lester graduated from Easton Area High School in 1940. He served as b uck sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was employ ed by Ingersoll Rand as a machinist for 42 years, and was a member of Ste el Workers Union Local 1503. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, For ks Township. Lester was known as Pop-Pop to young and old.

Survivors: Two sons, Stephen C. and his wife Diana of Derby, Vermont, Will iam O. at home; two daughters, Leslie J. Ladick and her husband John of Be thlehem, Anne L. Corby and her husband Dennis Sr. of Slatington; brothe r, Wilmer in Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Klein of Forks Township, Martha Corne lius of Martins Creek; two grandchildren, a great-grandson, two stepgrandc hildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by many brothe rs and sisters.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008, Faith Lutheran Church, 2012 Su llivan Trail, Easton. Relatives and friends are invited to call 7-8:30 p. m. Sunday, November 2, in Schmidt Funeral Home P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Na zareth, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday in the church.
