Jessie K. Sigafoos -- active in church
Jessie K. Sigafoos, 89, of Country Meadows, formerly of 650 Corliss Ave ., Phillipsburg, died Sunday, June 10, in Easton Hospital. She worked at t he New Jersey Motor Vehicle Agency in Phillipsburg, retiring in 1973. Befo re that, she was a secretary at the former Rielly Auto Transfer Co. in Phi llipsburg for 16 years. Born June 30, 1911, in Phillipsburg, she was a dau ghter of the late William S. and Matilda Sigafoos Knoble. She resided in P ohatcong Township and Phillipsburg, moving to Country Meadows six weeks ag o. She was a 60-year member of Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Stewartsvi lle, where she served as financial secretary.
She was a 50-year member of Delaware Chapter No. 50, Order of the Easte rn Star, where she served as Matron in 1957. She was a former member of t he Sunny Seniors in Phillipsburg and the Warren County Cedarettes. She w as a member of the Past Matrons Association of New Jersey. She was a 19 29 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. Her husband, Howard S., died in 1 984. She is survived by a brother, Thomas B. of Venice, Fla.; and nieces a nd nephews. Four brothers, Harry, John, Leonard and William; and three sis ters, Elizabeth Carpenter, Anna Stamets and Hattie Carberry, all died earl ier. Services will be announced by the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial P arkway, Phillipsburg. Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery.
