Thomas B. Knoble

Thomas B. Knoble, 86, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Phillipsburg, passed aw ay on Saturday, April 5, 2003, in his home. Born: June 8, 1916 in Phillips burg, a son of the late William S. and Matilda Sigafoos Knoble. Persona l: He and his wife, the former Hazel Lee Hefner, observed their 60th weddi ng anniversary on January 21, 2003. He graduated from Phillipsburg High Sc hool in 1934. He and his wife were owner/operators of Knoble's Departme nt Store on Hudson Street in Phillipsburg for 17 years. Later he worked f or the Postal Service at the Phillipsburg Post Office. He was a disabled N avy Veteran of World War II, while in the Navy he

received two years of specialized training. Memberships: He was a life mem ber of Phillipsburg Lodge number 52 F. & A. M., life member of Phillipsbu rg Elk's Lodge number 395, and after moving to Florida he joined the Veni ce Elks Lodge.

Survivors: his wife; two sons, Thomas L. of South Belmar, N.J., and Willi am A. of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great grandchildre n; and nieces and nephews. Four brothers, John, Harry, Leonard, and Willia m, and four sisters, Elizabeth Carpenter, Anna Stamets, Hattie Carpente r, and Jessie Sigafoos, all died earlier. Services: Private graveside serv ices will be held at the convenience of the family in the Fairmount Cemete ry, Phillipsburg. A memorial service will be held at a time to be announc ed by the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg.
